JEON LAB is recruiting postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and interns.
Our research focuses on synthesising carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from greenhouse gases, developing environmentally friendly polymers and organic compounds with self-healing properties, and studying biocompatible materials inspired by spider silk. These advanced materials are applied in next-generation semiconductors, secondary batteries, optical sensors, solar cells, and various energy/optoelectronic devices, pioneering academic and industrial advancements.
■ Unique Advantages of JEON LAB
1. A Research Lab Specialised in International Collaboration: We operate long-term overseas placement programmes during graduate and postdoctoral studies, allowing members to work in the US, Europe, or the UK. This has resulted in most graduates successfully advancing to prestigious universities, securing faculty positions, or finding employment abroad. Our principal investigator, who grew up in the UK and Japan, serves as Vice Dean of the Office of International Affairs, Director of the Global Research Centre, and a visiting professor at a renowned Japanese university, offering strong support for lab members.
2. Your Success is Our Success: Every graduate from our lab has successfully advanced to their desired domestic or international institution, achieving significant milestones. Notable examples include a valedictorian in the College of Engineering (Dr Han Ji-ye), a university-wide valedictorian and President’s Award recipient (Dr Nam Jung-seok), and an SKKU Thesis Award recipient (Dr Lee Il-hyun). These achievements are driven by individual autonomy and capability, not external pressure. 😊
3. Outstanding Research Outputs Driven by Members: Our lab publishes 10–20 first-author papers annually, with an average impact factor of approximately 20. Each member contributes an average of two first-author papers per year.
4. Autonomous and Respectful Lab Culture: We promote a flexible work schedule, avoiding unnecessary meetings (held only once every two months) and fostering a culture of recognition based on individual abilities and achievements rather than hierarchical structures. The lab operates through one-on-one meetings with the principal investigator and team-based discussions.
5. Shortest Possible Graduation Timeline: Our lab supports the rare opportunity to complete a PhD within three years in Korea. Upon meeting graduation requirements, members are promptly allowed to graduate, with the principal investigator actively assisting in career planning and placement.
Additional Notes: The lab’s success stems from a rigorous quality control process in member selection. A two-to-three-month unpaid probation period ensures only qualified members are admitted. If a member prefers to join another lab post-probation or during their course, the principal investigator provides full support. This system has consistently earned high satisfaction from current and prospective members, preventing unethical admissions while prioritising research excellence.
